Wimbledon Wide Windows

Wimbledon Wide Windows

Location: Wimbledon Village, SW19

Brief: The homeowner had previously worked with Helen for her property on the coast and wanted to repeat the same simple treatment of contemporary wave, or Surf, curtains for her modern home tucked behind the tennis courts of Wimbledon Village.

Our client came to the showroom with her paint colours and was decisive in her fabric choices. She decided for the Barnsley blackout fabric in Silver in the family room to avoid glare and create an intimate atmosphere when the family watch movies together. The same grey palette continues in the dining room adjacent to the sitting room which are both done in the Voile Layla in Silver, a light weight voile in a cotton blend.

The house opens up to the wrap around garden on all sides through glazed doors that tilt or open, running wall to wall in the sitting and family rooms. We decided to treat the length of the wall as a large bay window with a single tracked pole so that panels of curtains could be moved the length of the pole, adapting to the moving sun and use of the space. Given the lengths involved, bays of over 10 and 12 metres each, it was important that whatever the configuration the overall look would be uniform and elegant.

The final result offers total flexibility and complements the family’s lifestyle in their new London home.
