Project Knightsbridge

Knightsbridge Mansion block

Location: Knightsbridge Mansion

Brief: Replace the previous heavy, layered window treatments with a simple and sophisticated solution to give a spacious feel and let the light in.

To provide much needed daytime privacy discreet voile roller blinds were fitted throughout the flat. Where the view was less attractive, in the bathrooms and kitchen, a textured dim-out roller blind draws attention and better hid the inner courtyard and fire escape.

The main living space has large windows on two sides so it was essential to choose a discreet hanging option and avoid the curtains overwhelming the space. The previous top-heavy swags were replaced with a quiet tone on tone tracked pole, keeping the focus on the beautiful cornicing and luxurious curtains. Nepal Silk in a classic twin pleat is a great choice to give this room a timeless look while keeping it airy.

In the bedrooms the client was looking for interlined curtains for their superior blackout and sound insulation. This translated to a lath & fascia with twin pleated curtains in the delicate geometric pattern of Kelso in the Guest Room. The same solution didn’t suit the architecture of the Master Bedroom where the large radiator boxes would have forced the curtains to project into the space and dominate the room. Instead interlined silk roman blinds fit outside the recess offer good blackout protection without compromising on style.
