4 Of The Cosiest Textiles For Your Home

We’ve just had something of a serious cold snap, with much of the country cloaked in snow and temperatures plunging to an impressive -8 degrees C for many of us!

Of course, wintry weather can be incredibly magical – as long as we have snug and cosy homes to return to at the end of a long hard day – and one of the best ways to ensure that our house is warm and inviting is through the use of certain textiles and fabrics.

Fabric choice is something to give serious consideration when embarking on any home improvement project, as material, texture, colour and pattern can make a significant difference to how your rooms look and feel.

For cosiness, there are various options available to you – so here’s a quick guide to some of the more popular options that will help keep your home warm, while looking luxurious and elegant at the same time.

Velvet

A hugely popular choice for curtains and drapes, velvet is one of the most opulent fabrics you can use at home. It’s thick, it’s wonderfully textured and it looks divine, helping to trap heat within the home and elevating your interiors exponentially.

The softness of the fabric is a sight to behold and it boasts an amazing tactile finish, perfect not just for curtains but for other upholstered items throughout the house, as well.

Linen

For a versatile option at home, consider using linen for your curtains and other window treatments.

It works particularly well in winter time as it can help keep the heat in the house when the weather is freezing outside, but it also helps to keep the house cool during the summer months as well, so you won’t feel the need to update your curtains as the seasons change.

Suede

Another fabric that lends serious warmth to your home is suede, which has a deliciously soft and tactile feel, and a matte finish, that works really well throughout the house. It’s often used for upholstery, but you may want to opt for faux suede rather than the real deal because it’s easier to clean and maintain.

Wool

Finally, consider bringing wool into your house if you want to increase the cosiness factor.

It’s a go-to fabric choice for soft furnishings and accessories throughout the house, so go wild for woollen throws, blankets, cushions and rugs to create snug pockets of warmth in your living spaces… perfect for keeping out the winter chill and making it through to spring in one piece!

Whatever choice of fabric you do eventually decide to go for, just make sure that you do some research into the practicalities of each so you know how best to care for them, ensuring that your investments stand the test of time no matter what.
