4 Of The Best Summer Colours For Curtains

We’ve finally seen a bit of summer sun after what feels like neverending weeks of rain and it’s certainly given our mood a big old boost here at Pret A Vivre… so we’re using our newfound energy and renewed vim and vigour to give our homes a boost as well – and what better way to do just that than by transforming the window dressings throughout the house!

Because temperatures naturally increase at this time of year (hopefully!), it can be helpful to switch out thicker, darker fabrics like velvet for lighter-coloured ones in less heavy materials that won’t trap the heat in your house and leave you feeling stifled.

Also bear in mind that light colours are better at reflecting light, while dark colours absorb it, so you can help regulate interior temperatures by switching your curtains out season by season.

So, with this in mind, what colours are best for your summer curtain transformations? Here are just a few top suggestions from the Pret A Vivre team to help get you started.

Blush pink

There are so many delightful shades of pink that it can be difficult to choose which ones to decorate with, but if you’re looking for something a little pared back and muted that complements a range of other colours and styles, blush pink could well be the way to go.

This is a particularly calming shade of pink and will help to keep the room cool, while creating a beautifully light and airy space that you’ll simply love spending time in.

Jelly mint

One up-and-coming colour trend that you might want to adopt now to really get ahead of the style curve is jelly mint, identified by Coloro x WGSN as one of the key shades for Spring/Summer 2026 and beyond.

It’s described as buoyant with a youthful quality, with power that “lies in its ability to not only challenge the norm, but to transform it”, propelling us to “embrace all things ‘kawaii’ (cute)”… so it sounds like a particularly good choice for summertime interior design.

Golden yellow

Nothing quite shouts summertime than beautiful shades of yellow and it’s a wonderful way to breathe new life into your home. Golden yellows are a great tone to go for and you’ll find that if you bring them into rooms that don’t get as much natural light as you’d like, the spaces feel instantly energised and uplifted.

Rich copper

Now, we know we’ve suggested that lighter colours are best in summer and as a general rule of thumb this is certainly the case, but if you have a room that often feels cold even during the summer months you can create a lovely effect by going for a rich, warmer shade like copper.

Even better, this shade works well throughout the year, so there won’t be much need to redecorate… unless you want to, of course!

🎄 We'll be closed for Christmas on December 20th at 5:30pm and we will re-open on the 2nd January at 9:30am. 🎄
