3 Creative Uses For Curtains
Now, we’re all very well used to seeing beautiful curtains and drapes adorning the windows of our homes and, of course, they will always be a very popular choice for our bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and so on… but have you ever considered thinking outside the box a little when it comes to where and how to use curtains in the home?
Curtains can be used in myriad different ways throughout the house, so if you’re wondering how to inject a certain sense of unique style and je ne sais quoi into your interior design schemes, this could be just the way to do it.
Here are just a couple of alternative ways you could consider using drapes at home… and if you’ve got any ideas of your own, we’d love to hear them! Drop the Pret A Vivre team a line and let us know what you’ve got planned!
#1 Zone your living spaces
There’s a growing trend for using curtains and drapes to zone the different parts of the house. Instead of a door, for example, you could hang a curtain. Or if you have a particularly large room, you could suspend curtains from the ceiling to create a sense of separation without having to build a wall.
In this instance, curtains would be a much softer, more elegant way to divide the room, as well as being more dynamic since you can have them fully closed, partially open or pulled all the way back, allowing you to be more versatile with your living spaces.
#2 Hide storage areas
The practical aspects of daily life aren’t necessarily the most attractive, but you can use curtains to excellent advantage in certain parts of the house, such as the kitchen, hiding all those storage areas away and bringing them to life in a beautiful and unique way instead.
#3 Make a table runner
If you’d like to really bring your dining room design scheme together, what about making a bespoke table runner in the same fabric as the curtains you’ve hung in the space? This would tie everything up very neatly indeed, complementing the style of the room without being too matchy-matchy.
