FABRIC OF THE MONTH

BRUGES

Linen has been widely recognised as a luxurious fabric for centuries. It regulates heat and humidity making it highly breathable and adaptable to changes in different conditions. Our Bruges 100% linen is a stunning example of the natural sheen, deep colours and fluid drape inherent in the highest quality linen. Used unlined it is natural with understated elegance. Use lined for a restful night’s sleep or protect from drafts. Combine with interlining to give Bruges a plush volume while keeping it tailored, essential  for those who are particular about how their curtain will finish on the floor. Indeed, linen’s natural ability to cope with variations in temperature and humidity cause it to expand and contract accordingly. This can lead to temporary changes in curtain drop, or length, which can be minimised by using a stabilising layer such as interlining. Available in over 30 colours.

TOP TIP

If the cold weather has you reaching for your jumper consider having your new curtains with blackout lining. The extra insulation and protection from drafts could help you lower your heating bill.

Thermal lining is essentially a fabric lining which is coated, or ‘passed’, once with a single layer of protection. This layer is intended to block the air from passing through the weave of the fabric: if the cold air can’t come through, you’ll stay warmer!

Our blackout lining is British made triple pass lining. Rather than just the single coating there are three layers of protection ensuring there are no gaps for air to pass through. The result is a high performance layer of thermal insulation. We find that it offers a better – a more cost effective – solution than using interlining.
