For this lovely, new build apartment in Islington N1, our clients were looking for made to measure curtains and came to see us in Cross Street. The flat is for their daughter and originally, they were thinking lots of florals in bright colours. The highly experienced Gillian of our Islington team, suggested staying with the bright colours but to go with a plain rather than patterned or floral effect for the curtain fabrics. We felt florals would have crowded the room and made the space look so much smaller. In addition to creating a more contemporary look, using plain fabrics has made it also easier to accessorise – note the subtle use of patterned cushions and covers.
For the made to measure curtains, we used Bruges in lovely Turquoise, lined and interlined with a Wave heading. Bruges is a 100% linen fabric with a soft, elegant drape.
We also used Linen Chintz in bright Citrus, again lined and interlined with a Wave heading. Linen Chintz is a crisp cotton linen mix.
We opted for a Wave heading as this gives a nice contemporary feel to the room. In particular a Wave heading works very well for single curtains and folds in a nice neat stack when open.
We are delighted to have met the very high standards of our client and to have received such positive feedback. Take a look at what they (and many more clients) have to say about our work in our reviews section.
