Frequently asked questions

I am concerned about how much room my curtains will take as I have limited space either side of the window and I do not want them obscuring it. What do you suggest?

Choose your heading style wisely. Opt for either pinch pleat or eyelet heading and the curtains will stack back neatly.
Pinch pleat is a more classic and elegant heading where as eyelet is more contemporary and requires less fullness.

I am overlooked and need privacy during the day without blocking the light and I don’t like net curtains. What do you suggest

Try our sheer voiles curtains hung on a double pole (curtains on the front pole and voiles on the back pole) or opt for a plain voile Roman blind. Both options will allow you to wash the voile fabric to keep it looking fresh.
Another solution is to have voile roller blinds.
All three options above will not give you night-time privacy and if this is important then the final solution is to have a pull-up roller blind in either sovereign or poly blackout.

I have a radiator underneath my window. Are sill length curtains the only option?

Floor length curtains will always hang better and look more elegant. We can supply extension brackets for poles and tracks allowing the curtains to hang clear of the radiator.
The room will heat normally as the heat rises behind the curtains and radiates back into the room from the top.

I have a bay window with 4 curtains that take space and light. How can I have a pair of closing curtains on my bay window?

We supply made to measure bay poles for 1-bend bays up to 4-bend bays. These poles have special passing brackets and are supplied with C-shaped rings that slide over the brackets allowing you to have one pair of curtains on the bay window.
We also supply made to measure bay tracks that can be ceiling fixed, face fixed or fixed on a lath & fascia or pelmet board.

How do I clean my curtains and blinds?

We recommend dry-cleaning for most of our products. However you can have washable curtains (in a gentle cycle at 30C) if you combine a washable fabric and our blackout lining.
There are also companies offering an on-site cleaning service for curtains and blinds.
A good tip to keep you curtains fresh and clean is to shake out the dust regularly and if necessary hoover them.

I have coving on the wall coming down to the window and I am not sure if there is enough space to fix a track or a pole. What do you suggest?

Poles or tacks can also be ceiling fixed allowing curtains to be hung on most windows.

I want a corded track but they don’t look very appealing and I don’t want a pelmet. What can I do?

We supply covered lath & fascias. The track is fixed on a wooden board, a lath.
The fascia is a 6cm strip covered in the same fabric as the curtains or in a contrasting one, and is face-fixed to the lath to hide the track when the curtains are open.

I have old draughty windows in a room that always feels cold. Should I go for curtains or blinds?

You can go for either. Interlining your curtains or blinds will give you significantly more heat insulation. However the best thermal lining we have is our blackout lining. Combine the two for a double-glazing effect!
